Meet Spyke O’Che and René Funks the Funkylunch FBomb
The People -
Spyke O’Che &
René Funks the FBomb
Authority Matrix began with two friends chasing the same frequency — a shared belief that sound could be a catalyst for change. For more than a decade, Spyke and René have worked together in music, from late-night club sets to festival extravaganzas that lit up whole fields of people. From their earliest late-night sessions, they discovered that music was their common language, one that could cut through chaos and speak directly to the heart. Those first collaborations weren’t just about crafting beats or writing verses; they were about discovering how rhythm and emotion could unite strangers and spark thought. What started as simple experimentation soon turned into a deep commitment to purpose — a mission to use music as connection, healing, and revolution in equal measure.
Spyke O’Hanlin is the voice, the pen, and the pulse of the message. A filmmaker, activist, and writer, Spyke turns frustration into poetry and reflection into rhythm. His words are unfiltered — sometimes furious, sometimes fragile, always human. He speaks for those who’ve been unheard, crafting truth with grit, wit, and fire.
Spyke’s creative journey began long before Authority Matrix. A born artist, he spent his youth sketching and composing songs on his old PlayStation, learning to blend imagination with rhythm. That early spark grew into a life of creation — from an award-winning documentary filmmaker and self‑published author to a seasoned event organiser and party planner who brings people together through vision and experience.
Spyke adopted the name O’Che as a nod to the ideals of defiance and solidarity that transcend borders. It isn’t about emulating the actions of the historical Che, but about recognising the symbolism of standing for people, for resistance, for compassion in motion. The name reminds him—and everyone who hears it—that rebellion can be peaceful, creative, and full of purpose.
Driven by community spirit, Spyke has led multiple local projects, from basketball and airsoft leagues to extreme water sports and freediving adventures, all built around teamwork and inclusion. He kept the rock nightclub scene alive in his hometown when the council was shutting venues down, curating unforgettable nights of music and rebellion. Funks stood beside him through it all, the best DJ in the building, until the pandemic finally closed that chapter — but their shared fire only burned brighter, paving the way for what Authority Matrix would become.
René Funks the FBomb is the architect of the soundscape. Producer, DJ, and sonic explorer, he builds entire worlds from texture and tone. His beats aren’t just rhythm — they’re architecture for emotion, foundation for feeling. René has been dedicated to music his entire life. From his early days as a committed band member to the seasoned and skilled DJ he has become over more than two decades, his devotion to sound never wavered.
He’s an avid surfer who lives by and follows the Surfers’ Code, carrying its spirit of respect, balance, and harmony into every part of his life. His dedication to connection runs through both his music and his actions, proving that rhythm can build communities just as powerfully as it moves crowds.
Music isn’t just in his veins — it beats from his soul, shaping every mix, every drop, every night behind the decks. Beyond the decks, Funks is a community builder at heart — a loyal friend and steadfast activist who always stands for what’s right.
Together, Spyke and Funks became the dual heartbeat of Authority Matrix — the harmony between message and motion, chaos and control, word and wave. Their chemistry on and off stage is the reason the movement lives and breathes.
And there is plenty of room for more! Do you share our core values? Do you believe in unity and the human spirit? Got what it takes to represent Authority Matrix on and off the stage? See Additional Information for more information
